Lac Calm Foret - Is set in the most beautiful part of France and the local
town argenton sur- creuse the lake and Accommodation has good access and set
behind private gates totally tree lined and backing onto a forest with wild
deer who come to the lake to drink water.
The Fish Farmer
We met some old chap in a bar who looked about 101 who said he was a fish
farmer. No he did not speak English but luckily I had Didier with me he is our
TMW Lakes consultant in France. So we went to meet the fish farmer the next
day. Tell you the truth we were too drunk to go that day.
Any way we finally found this old place set in a forest, we nearly gave up and I am
glad I did not. After driving down an old dirt track we found an old shack,
there he was with his dog and and bottle of wine. I looked out across the
water it was black just like redmire pool the bubbles was rising from the
water and the carp were turning just under the surface. My heart was churning
and I had goose bumps, the last time I had that I was 15 and it was with a
blond girl at school. Any way back to reality, after a bottle of wine and
some French stick. We went out in a boat with a net and then I found what a
carp really should be. Quality and deep with colour and a bloody big belly.
Happy days.
We purchased carp between 19 and 30lb and they were released into
the main lake. But we also purchased carp from 7 to 11lb and they have been
released into the stock pond from which we allow float fishing off the sun decked
area.
The fish were released in to the stock pond so we can introduce high
protein food. We anticipate these carp to gain approximately 4 to 6lb a year
